KAMO Youth Academy

KAMO Youth Academy (KYA) was created to help local students understand not only what KAMO Power does, but why it matters. The program introduces high school juniors and seniors to KAMO’s role in the electric power supply system and shows how collaboration across that system ensures reliable, affordable power for the communities we serve. KYA connects classroom learning with real-world impact, demonstrating how KAMO’s mission strengthens the grid and supports the long-term needs of our region.

Through mentorship, hands-on activities, and direct interaction with KAMO professionals, students gain exposure to the many career paths that support this mission—from engineering and IT to operations, communications, and more. Participants also learn how cooperative values, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to service guide decision-making across the organization, all while building practical skills and professional confidence. Scholarships, early access to internships, and participation in KAMO employee events further immerse students in the cooperative culture that sets us apart.

KYA benefits local communities by investing in their students and helping strengthen the future workforce of the electric and telecommunications industries. It also benefits KAMO by developing informed, motivated talent who understand the cooperative model and the importance of working together to serve member communities. The result is a pipeline of future leaders—grounded in service, committed to their communities, and excited to help power what comes next.
