Substation Technician I – Spokane, Missouri

This position assists in providing support services in processing, maintaining, repairing and testing substation equipment to ensure safe and proper operation.  Assist in testing and maintenance of all types of transformers, breakers, regulators, circuit switchers, capacitors, switches, power panels, batteries and reclosers.  Work on energized equipment for 120/240 VAC & 48/125 VDC.  Works in close proximity to voltages ranging from 15kV up to 245kV.  When required, will perform “hot” work within the minimum approach distances using proper personal protection equipment and under direct supervision.

Ideal candidates will have a basic understanding of maintenance and testing procedures on various types of circuit breakers, transformers, metering equipment and switches.  Basic knowledge of AC and DC circuits, circuit breaker and transformer applications, electro-mechanical devices and gauge calibration techniques.  Also, basic knowledge of electrical schematics and physical design drawings. 

Associate Degree in Applied Science in Electronics or Electrical Engineering Technology, with zero (0) to two (2) years of experience required.  Equivalent industry experience in a related field may potentially be considered for substitution of degree requirements.  Must have the ability to obtain or currently have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsement.  All levels of experience will be considered.  Job and pay grade will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
